About Fairfields Teaching School Alliance

We are very proud to be a founder member and strategic partner of the Fairfields Teaching School Alliance. Teaching Schools have been introduced by the Government as a means of training teachers in schools; similar to the model of training Doctors in hospitals.

In addition to training teachers, teaching school alliances also lead on School to School Support, Research and Development, Talent Management, utilising Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) and Continuing Professional Development.

The Gateway School leads on School to School Support and the deployment of SLEs to support school improvement in schools around the county. The current Headteacher is also a Local Leader of Education and provides support to other Headteachers.

Teacher, Independent Specialist School
The Headteacher offered our staff a high quality of leadership and mentoring for the Senior Leadership Team which developed their leadership and management skills. This allowed the school to grow and improve and subsequently be judged as ‘Good’ in our most recent full Ofsted inspection.

The Marian Play Home

The Marian Play Home (MPH) is a special school in Southern India in an area called Kerala. Following a visit to the school by Mr. David Lloyd, our students raised around £600 and this was enough to fund 3 Learning Support Assistants for a year at MPH.

We also sent a member of our staff along with staff from Fairfields School to teach the MPH about autism and structured teaching.
