School Meals

Carika’s Kitchen

Our canteen is run by our two cooks and our food is freshly cooked on site each day.

The menu changes with seasons and availability and there is always a choice. For example:

  • Pasta Bake or bolognaise
  • Roast Beef Dinner with home-made Yorkshire Puddings
  • Home-made Quiche with salt & pepper potatoes and salad
  • Fish and chips
  • Shepherd’s Pie
  • Meatballs and pasta
  • Stew and Dumplings
  • Roast chicken dinner
  • Lasagne
  • All-day breakfast
  • Fajitas
  • Jerk Chicken

Each day there are alternatives, including a vegetarian option.

  • Hot or cold baguettes with various fillings
  • Jacket Potatoes with various fillings
  • Salads
  • Soup (Wintertime)

All meals are served with seasonal vegetables, potatoes or salad, and include pudding of the day or fresh fruit (subject to availability). We serve nourishing meals that we would be happy to eat ourselves in the hope that the students try a variety of foods which they will enjoy. On occasions, a class will cook in the kitchen (under supervision) a menu of their choice on a specific theme to serve to the rest of the school.

We also listen to students’ opinions on their favourite meals and tweak the menus accordingly – taking into account the nutritional value of the dishes they choose. Any known allergies should be reported to the school as soon as possible and these are taken into consideration accordingly.

The students order their food each morning once they know what is on the menu, which can be found on our website – please check the date on each menu. The students are also able to bring in their own packed lunch if they prefer.

All meals are £2.30 each and this needs to be paid in advance via ParentPay.  Letters are sent out to parents of new admissions informing them of their log-in details and instructions as to how to set up a ParentPay account.
