Governors

Welcome to our Governors’ section.

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

Our Governing Body is made up of Parents, Staff, Community and Local Authority (LA) Governors. They are responsible for the strategic leadership of the school and ensuring the school runs effectively. They also make decisions about school policies and procedures.

Governors serve a four-year term. Parent and staff governors are elected. LA and Community Governors are recommended and appointed by the Governing Body.

The Governors have three committees: Finance, Leadership and Management, Teaching and Learning and Behaviour and Safeguarding.

These committees meet separately and look at issues in finer detail before reporting to the full governing body with their recommendations. The full governing body meets at least once a term to discuss committee reports, curriculum, policy, finance, buildings, staffing and appointments, marketing, school improvement, school effectiveness and, very importantly, safety, health and well-being. These committees meet separately and look at issues in finer detail before reporting to the full governing body with their recommendations.

The Governors are very committed to the school and never lose sight of the fact that every decision they make ultimately affects the students and young adults who attend Gateway School.
